Our installation process for gravel driveways starts at installing a solid Type 1 MOT foundation for the driveway or patio area. Followed by heavy duty permeable membrane sheeting to prevent weeds.
The next step is preference as some clients prefer having plastic stabilisers installed on the driveway to keep the gravel locked in place. However, if a gravel driveway is properly based and has a solid edging restraint around it, it is not always required.
The gravel we will supply and lay at your home is picked from quality suppliers to ensure a high grade decorative stone which is capable of withstanding traffic comfortably. On driveways we would always recommend a minimum of 20mm gravel stones to ensure its stable enough for larger vehicles.
On patio areas, you can easily downgrade the size into a more shingle style stone as no vehicles will be going over it on a regular basis. As an added bonus, you can use small gravel / shingle for a maintenance free garden or flower bed as well.
